Lot of stuff going on in personal tech these days: Smarpthones outsell PCs,
tablets are more
than just iPad, handhelds are going 3D and youre going nuts trying to stay on
top of it all.
Im B.C.
with Top 5 hottest tech search terms of Q1 2011.
Lets see whats
intriguing you the
most based on fastest growing searches on Google in the category of Computers
and
Technology, thats where the gear lives.
#5 is Nintendo 3DS.
Up 200% in global searches in Q1.
That may all just be
Bakalar
Googling this picture of himself () but its also the rest of you checking out
the 3D-enabled
follow-on to the very hot Nintendo DS.
The 3DS is just hitting market and among
other
things those searches will tell you is that it does 3D without you having to
wear stupid-
looking glasses that are bigger than it.
#4 is PPTV.
This is a massive streaming TV and video service aimed at the
Asian market.
Sort of a Netflix + Hulu + Amazon but with 120 TV stations, 300 live streams and
20,000
titles for VOD.
Intriguing offerings like Mischievous Cartoons and the Hunan
Super Girl
Competition helped it draw a 250% bump in searches in Q1.
#3 is iPad 2.
450% search growth as it went from rumor to reality.
A lot of
that searching
may have been people wanting to make sure they didnt miss anything since the
2s biggest
wow was just the addition of cameras that should have been there from the
start.
#2 hottest term in Q1 was teamviewer 6 with 1,050% growth.
TeamViewer is a
screen
sharing tool for remote support and virtual meetings.
Its hallmarks are that it
lets you do a
session without pre-installed software, Java app or even an account and it
punches through
firewalls well.
Sounds slickand dangerous.
Before we get to the #1 hottest search term of Q1 2011, lets take a quick peak
at the 5
hottest telecom search terms:
Which brings us to the #1 hottest search term in Computers & Electronics: iOS
4.3 with a
huge 2,300% search growth in Q1.
4.3 has mobile hotspotAirPlay video for 3rd
party
appsstream from an iTunes library to an iOS deviceand some new four and five
finger
multitouch gestures which look obscene if you dont do them right.
A lot of
that search
growth is certainly people learning to use 4.3 features which you can start
doing in the How
To tab at CNET TV.
