>> Hi, I'm Rich Brown senior editor for CNET.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Sony VAIO TP1. As you can see this is a small circular computer pretty much designed for a living room. Defiantly looks like a robot that seems to be the most common description. Now despite the fact that it is a pretty unique looking system we're really not that excited about it. It's underpowered way too expensive and just doesn't really do that much in the living room that you can't get from a standard PC. Grant it it's unique, it looks cool, you know, maybe it would go with a certain kind of style thing you have going on. But for the most part, we think there are plenty of better deals out there. Now there are actually a few clever design components to this system. The front panel door has a nice slide over action [inaudible] a couple of USB ports your basic front panel connections. And on the back a couple magnates hold on this piece it keeps your cables nice and tidy for the most part. But, if you have your WYFI antenna plugged in your gonna need to take it off. We have a feeling you'll probably leave it off most of the time. So the system does actually have a few nice features the HGMI port in the back is the one that stands out for us the most. Otherwise, though pretty straightforward it has your basic USB ports and analog TV tuner as well as digital audio out. We also actually like this keyboard it's nice and small and sort of feels like a laptop keyboard. You can pretty much imagine it sitting on a coffee table generally not getting in the way of the living room. Touch pad works pretty ok it's not great. Sony actually has a nice software overlay on the system to so you can navigate around with the remote control, makes it a little bit easier. But, as I said, we're really not too excited about this system. It's expensive and it's pretty limited in terms of up to date features. The sticker on the front panel is actually a pretty good indicator of what we're talking about. It says it can do full 1080 P, but it only has a standard F DVD player. So it really is not a high-end media center system it's kind of trying to be. So I'm Rich Brown and this is the Sony VAIO TP1.
