>> [Josh Goldman:] Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET reviews, and this pink beauty is the 12 megapixel Sony Cybershot DSC W220. It's a pared-down version of the company's excellent W290 camera, which unfortunately makes it a little bit less of a camera. But the tweaks are ones that most people can live without, in order to save some cash such as a 4X zoom compared to the 290's 5X zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD instead of a 3-inch screen. The only one that might be a deal-breaker is that the W220 only captures VGA-quality video. Shooting modes are geared toward snapshots, with 3 auto modes with varying degree of controls. Unfortunately, Sony crammed as many icons on the little mode dial as possible by including a few common scene modes like high sensitivity, landscape, and twilight portrait. Overall the design is nice, compact, and lightweight. It's available in black, silver and blue models, too. The W220's photo quality is good; however, there was some noise visible at all ISOs, and the amount of purple fringing was above average. Keep your prints below 8 by 10, and you'll likely never notice. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's a look at the Sony Cybershot W220.
