You've read up on sous-vide cooking and you're ready to buy an immersion circulator.
But which one do you buy?
We'll help you decide with this Smart Home Showdown.
[MUSIC]
Today, we'll look at two immersion circulators.
The Anova Precision Cooker with bluetooth and wi-fi and the Joule Immersion Circulator.
The Anova and Joule each have wi-fi built into the units, so you can use your smartphone to control your sous vide cooking, even if you're not nearby.
Now let's break down what makes the Anova and Joule stand out from one another.
The most noticeable difference between the Anova and the Joule is how they look.
The Anova is noticeably longer and wider because of its onboard controls, and a nice scroll wheel so you can control the temperature right on the unit.
The Jewel, instead of having those onboard controls, goes for a sleeker, smaller design with only one button at the top to control the whole unit.
Now a lot of the power of the Jewel comes it's [UNKNOWN].
That's where you set temperatures but also look at Really thorough, helpful video guides.
So if you're a newbie to [UNKNOWN] cooking, you can easily get comfortable with this method, and try out new and different recipes.
Do you know that also has a good app, that shows you different temperature guides for different For food, but the app doesn't have the same video features as the [UNKNOWN] does.
Now when it comes to performance, the [UNKNOWN] and [UNKNOWN] are very similar.
We cooked two steaks side by side, and the results were pretty similar.
And in individual tests that we've done with each unit, we were really pleased with how the food came out.
But since the performance is the same, you have to look at all the [INAUDIBLE] Shows that each of these emerging circulators can do.
For me, the Jewel's compatibility with Amazon Alexa really sets this immersion circulator over the top.
You can use Amazon's digital assistant to control the immersion circulator with your own voice.
That connectivity really makes me prefer the Jewel, at least right now.
But I'm eager to see what the Anova can do to catch up with Joule's connectivity.
