[MUSIC] I read that you were on the [UNKNOWN] basis when season one came to the screen, were you just confuse as Westworld change? Yes, yes. [MUSIC] Yeah. The first season I didn't even, maybe one or two episodes in I would try to figure it all out and understand where it was all going and what the end game was. As long as I know what was going on, that I was informed for what scene we were shooting at the time. I didn't need to necessarily know what the puzzle looked like at the end. I started going more down the path of Surrendering to not knowing. The conversations that were common were, like, Xes are human, or X is a host. So there was a lot of that going on. It was like, who was a robot, who wasn't. But, as far as the bigger picture reveals, I'm not smart enough to understand it just yet. We saw in the trailer that Dolores says, that the hosts are fighting for the right to live. Pretty deep question for you. Do you think robots should have as many rights as humans in this world? Do you think that they should? Well, yeah, I think that the show asks several deep questions like that. I think one of the great things, at the core of the show, it is asking what it means to be human. But what about me? My dreams. My thoughts. My body. I mean I'm real.>>If you have these senient creatures who are programmed to exhibit human like emotion, Behavior. What keeps them from being human. Why aren't they human? We're holding a mirror up to ourselves and asking really what it means to be human. And if a thing that's made out of nuts and bolts and wires can have a soul or feel, How is that any lesser than a human being? And so you personally worked on the show. You'd probably had a few thoughts about these ideas. Does the future of AI scare you? You know, where we're going as a world in terms of robotics and machine learning, all that kind of development and advancment? Well it does a little bit to me, cuz I mean who knows what it's doing to us? To us. I know that we are culture of people who get excited about new. I wonder that sometimes we rely on technology too much. I don't wonder, I know. I know we do. So I hope that with the path of technological progress, which is inevitable, it's gonna happen That at least we approach it with real respect and discipline. I hope we don't get to a point where our creation takes over us or renders us obsolete. I've evolved into something new and I have one last role to play. Myself. So the hosts are rebelling in season 2. I'm curious if you were in Westworld and Hugh James how would you survivie the robot apocolypse? Physically I would be Digging myself a hole and hiding in it for the forseeable future. But I guess I would want to somehow, if there was an opportunity, to reach out to these sentient being. Creatures who look and talk like us, but they are not like us. And they've controlled us all our lives. And let them know that there's no difference between us, and who I am innately as a human being, flesh and blood says nothing about the limits of my sympathies. Yeah, but I may not get that many words. [LAUGH] I may get a bullet in the stomach before I even get that out. So I would probably, you know, hide in the tallest tree or dig myself a nice hole with a straw that I could breath through, I don't know.
