[MUSIC] This is the 2020 Volkswagen ID.3 electric vehicle. And, no, we are not getting it in the States, and that, my friends, is a crying shame. The company hopes that it will obtain a cult status like the Volkswagen Beetle or the Golf. And, frankly, just seeing it here at the Frankfurt Motor Show Thing looks really, really sweet. No initially the ID three will be available as three first edition models but each of those will get a 58 kilowatt hour battery, which is good for about 261 miles of range. After that the production models can get either a 45 kilowatt hour battery good for 205 miles of range or a 77 kilowatt hour battery good for 342 miles of range, but keep in mind. That is on the European cycle which tends to be a little bit more ambitious than our EPA numbers. Now when those numbers dwindled down to zero, a DC fast charger can put up to 180 miles on this bad boy in about 30 minutes. Now when those miles dwindled down to zero, a fast charging system can put about 180 miles on this guy in about 30 minutes. A single motor on the rear axle puts out 201 horse power and 229 pound feet of torque and yes, you heard that right. Single motor, rear axle, this guy is rear wheel drive. Yeah, buddy. Inside the ID.3 is all about space, space, space. There's no center tunnel and there are a ton of LED lights everywhere. After all, the company says, light is the chrome of the future. I mean, that's what they say. That's not from me. That's from Volkswagen. The base ID3 starts about $34,000 and they should hit the road here in Germany in 2020. Now, we will get an ID model in the United States but it will probably be an electric SUV. However, we're hoping to see that pretty soon.
