[MUSIC] Welcome to Alphabet City. This is the new show that covers everything to do with Alphabet. Alphabet happens to own lots of companies like Verily, Chronicle, Waymo and Google. I'm your guide, Iyaz Akhtar, and you are the phenomenal audience. Today we're talking about some more YouTube stuff, a brick of an Android phone, your comments and more, but first up It's S10 time. On to Galaxy Gateway. [MUSIC] The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus reviews are in and they're pretty positive. Here's what you should know. With the S10 Plus, you'll get a great Samsung OLED screen. During our early tests here at CNET, the ultra sonic fingerprint sensor was not perfect. A software update is supposed to help the function When the phone ships to consumers. Samsung got rid of the iris scanner, so if the fingerprint sensor fails, you'll be using a pin code or the not secure face unlock. The cameras on the S10 plus were pretty darn good. The AI technologies built into the camera were handy. If you want more control, you can turn off the AI. Low light shots were good, but now always great when compared to the pixel. The front facing camera has a new trick when you're taking selfies The phone lights up the edge of the selfie cam so you know where to look. AR emojis are no longer nightmare inducing hurray. Here's a quote from our review. As it stands now the S10+ is an excellent device that I'd be happy to use every single day and I think you'd feel the same way too. If you buy the S10, Samsung says it will ship with a factory pre installed screen protector made by Samsung. This will be true for all variants of the Galaxy S10, why? Samsung says it's for durability and full functionality of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor On the S10 and the S10 Plus. One more note about the in-screen finger print sensor, the YouTube channel, JerryRigEverything, did some testing on the S10. In the video, the area where the finger print sensor was, was scratched up. With lighter scratches, the sensor still worked. Deeper gouges led to the finger print sensor being unable to work properly. So that's something to consider if you're thinking about getting the S10. One last note on the S10. You know about front facing camera cutout, right? A Twitter user named Mattcabb posted some awesome wallpapers that made the cutouts sort of disappear. Bender and the Mars Rover might be my favorite so far. On to Uptown updates. [MUSIC] YouTube put up a blog post saying it's suspending comments on videos featuring young minors. And videos featuring older minors that could be at risk of attracting predatory behavior. The post also says that a small number of creators will be able to keep comments enabled on these types of videos. These channels will be required to actively moderate their comments. This is in response to a controversy that arose regarding child exploitation. Last week we mentioned that Samsung introduced an update that lets you assign apps to a tap or a double tap of the Bixby button, but guess what? You can't directly assign Google Assistant or Amazon's voice assistant to it. We asked Samsung about this limitation but it did not immediately reply to our request. If and when the company does respond, we'll let you know. If you want to use the Bixby button to launch Google Assistant there are number of work arounds. Like using TASKR. We've been taking about how you'll be able to use a Nest Secure like a Google Home. You can give it voice commands and Google's system will help you out. That's pretty cool. The problem was that Google didn't bother to disclose that the Nest Secure had a microphone at all. the company said this exclusion was in error. Well the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee is not happy about this. Its members penned a letter to Google CEO Sundar Pichai with six questions they want answered by 5 PM on March 12th. The committee also wants an in-person briefing by no later than March 29th. Say hello to this Energizer Android phone with an 18,000 milliamp hour battery. You heard right, 18,000. How large is it? This is the Power Max P18K Pop compared to the S10+. Energizer says you get up to 5 days of normal use and 40 days on standby on a single charge. You might be wondering [UNKNOWN] what about the front facing camera with those [UNKNOWN] vessels? It pops up out of a massive [UNKNOWN] body because why the [BLEEP] not? It will cost around $680 and it will be available in the summer. Onto comment cove. [music] This is the part of the show where we shine a spotlight at the most amazing audience in the world, you. Last week we were talking about the foldable phone invasion Ben Franklin says, foldable tablets, communicator phones. Endless possibilities with falcon wing and flex screens. Souk says, for people with money, 2G's is a sneeze on a sunny day. I love that saying. Everyday folks will have to take out a mortgage. Matt the Ginger says, the Huawei. Is gonna get mega scratched up fast. And will also get burn-in effects on one side. He also mentions potential brightness and yellowy issues that could arise with the Mate X. Now Matt, those are some interesting thoughts. We'll have to see how all the screens hold up over time. Thanks to almost everyone for writing in, two of you can go fly a kite.
