Hey guys, I'm Megan Wollerton for Cnet here at Techwest on the show floor at CES 2018, taking a look at the Axis Gear.
Now we've actually seen the Axis Gear before, but this is one of the first times it's being demoed in live.
Here at the show floor.
So this is basically a $249 display that retrofits to your existing loop window shade.
So any window shade you have, they say no matter what size, what weight, what style.
As long as it has a chain, their retrofit device right here is gonna And work with it.
So here's how it works.
Basically it is this device here.
It has a mounting bracket here.
And then this panel has built in Bluetooth and ZigBee.
So you just press this.
Up here will make it open all the way to 100%.
If you go down here, it'll go to 25%, 50, 75 and there on.
You press the x at the top it'll stop moving.
It's really, really, super simple, but the other thing is that you can use the related app here.
So if you just pull up the app, you can also control all of the same stuff that you would from the window shade which is a really, really cool feature.
So if you're not at home or if you're sitting on the couch and you're feeling really lazy you just pull out your phone and do the exact same stuff that you would straight from the device.
Right here.
This thing also integrates with smart things, so since it has a built in Zigbee Radio you can just use smart things to control this with all sorts of other smart home devices, which is a really cool feature.
And it also promises upcoming support for both Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, so you should in the future be able to Say something like, Alexa open my window shades.
Thanks for watching guys.
From here at Tech West at CES 2018, I'm Megan Wollerton taking a first look at the new access gear.
