Apple may take a page out of the Samsung playbook for the iPhone 11. 2020 rumors and bye bye AirPower mat. Let's get you caught up on all your Apple news on this week's Apple Core. [MUSIC] Last week was all about Apple's new services. So let's bring it back to hardware, this week, and catch you up on all the iPhone rumors, starting with the iPhone 11. According to longtime Apple analyst Michiko cited in Mac rumors, Apple will add to way wireless charging to the iPhone 11. This means you could feasibly charge your air pods and a second device from the back of your phone. Sound familiar? That's because Samsung just debuted this feature on the new galaxy. CS tens to power up the galaxy watch active and the galaxy buts. The report also suggests that the phones would have a larger battery which would hopefully translate into longer battery life. But that might be the biggest headliner for the iPhone 11 line up because every other rumored upgrade for 2019 seems pretty minor in comparison According to rumors, Apple will stick with the same three phone lineup and the same screen size and LCD display for the cheaper 10R model. Another change could include a three-camera array on the back fo the phone with a super wide-angle lens and maybe a second front-facing camera. Again like the Galaxy S10 plus, and a lot of other Android phones for that matter, but it's unclear whether these extra cameras would come to all the models of the new iPhone or just the max. Now that [UNKNOWN] changes include a smaller notch, flat edges, and a switch to a USB C port, like last year's iPad pros as pictured here in this concept iPhone video. [SOUND] But it sounds like the 2020 iPhones maybe the ones to hold out for. A new DigiTimes report says Apple is gearing up to launch an all OLED line up in 2020. This means the cheaper XR would also be OLED, it is currently LCD. The report also suggest we could see different size as mean a real design. The new sizes would include a 5.42 inch display which is smaller than the smallest iPhone 10x, which is 5.8 inches Then a 6.06 inch iPhone and a 6.67 inch iPhone which sounds massive, compared to the 6.5 inch 10S max, which was already huge. But the total footprint of the phone might not be that much bigger, because in this case it would have smaller bezzles, and potentially, No not. Also this time around the cheapest of the phones would be the smallest. Samsung is likely to remain Apple's primary [INAUDIBLE] screen supplier, so don't expect the prices of these phones to go down, because this is currently the most expensive feature on the iPhone. Other rumours for the 2020 iPhones included A foldable model and a 5G enabled device. But now, thanks to the latest report, Apple would be stretched to launch a 5G phone in 2020 because of its rumored problems with Qualcomm. Welcome, but take all of this with a grain of salt. As pointed out, in nine to five Mac, DigiTimes reported that the Air Power Mac would be arriving in late March, and we all know how that ended. [SOUND] After a nearly two year wait, Apple finally came clean about what happened to the air power charging meth they announced along side the iPhone X in 2017. You know the one, the wireless charging station that would allow you to get rid of all of your cables uncharged three Apple devices at once, no matter where you put them on the mat, well that's officially can this after multiple mentions of the device were spotted in iOS 12 code the new air pods box, and iPhone tennis packaging. The company said it fail to achieve their high standards. But industry sources have said that the multiple coils required to power this mat were causing it to overheat, a problem the company clearly was not able to solve in time. So yeah, this This is embarrassing for Apple, but it may be a teachable moment. And next time, the way to the product is actually fully fledged to announce it on a stage. It's also better to scrap this device And to deliver a hot plate to consumers. Let's not forget Samsung's Note 7 nightmare with the exploding battery. Now if you like me were looking forward to a cable free future, this doesn't mean you continue living tied up, there are, Plenty of other wireless chargers out there. Because while Apple was waiting to develop the AirPower [INAUDIBLE] other companies like Nomad have caught up to Apple's vision. Sure you won't have all the IRS As integration or the flexibility to position it anywhere on the mark, but you will be able to charge your Apple watch. iPhone and iPods, all at once on this $140 [INAUDIBLE]. Now the catch is You will have to wait until May to get it because hours after Apple's announcement Nomad apparently received a flood of orders, or just skip this one all together because there are plenty of cheaper alternatives like this This one from Bestbeing which is $30 and does pretty much the same. Now our own Rick Broida has compiled his list of favorites on CNET.com, so make sure to check that out if are looking for an AirPower mat. [MUSIC] This week the Air Pods got a new rival, and they're from the same maker. Apple gave us an early preview at their new power beats pro, a truly wireless version of their power beats 3. Now, like the Air Pods, they have that H one chip, which allows for complete compatibility with IOS devices, And the Siri always on feature that you found in the Air Pods. But unlike the Air Pods, they have a much sportier design, that will stay in your ear longer if you're doing any kind of activity, thanks to that click that attaches to the back of your ear. You also get more color options. And they're sweat and water resistant. Our editor David Connolly has already tested them out and he says that the sound quality is also better, thanks in part to that in ear design which allows for better sound isolation. Now the catch here is that they do come with a larger charging case, no wireless charging option, and they're $250. This makes the hundred and $60 air pods sound like a deal. Now they won't be available to me, but you can already check out our preview on CNET. com. That's it for this week so but let me know if you're still mourning that airpower Matt. Or if you're going to go out and buy an alternative and also come back next week for more Apple Core.
