Major tech companies are speaking out against President Donald Trump's policy of separating migrant families, detaining children in camps, while parents are prosecuted for illegally crossing the border. Tech CEOs including Tim Cook, Sundar Pichai, [UNKNOWN] added their voices to the widespread outcry against the Trump administration mandate. More than 2000 children are being detained. With reports of family members not knowing if they can ever be reunited with their children or if they can track their whereabouts. Apple CEO Tim Cook called the move inhumane. In an interview with the Irish Times, he said it needs to stop. Microsoft released a pair of statements condemning the action, but Microsoft has faced criticism for a January blog post. Where the company said it was proud to supply tech services to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That included the Azure cloud computing service, which uses deep learning to accelerate facial recognition and identification. Microsoft said it is not aware of Azure services being used for the separation of children from families at the border. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called the policy quote simply cruel and abusive, and we are standing for change. In a tweet Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, the stories and images of families being separated at the border are gut-wrenching. Urging our government to work together to find a better, more humane way that is reflective of our values as a nation Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi himself an immigrant, tweeted that the stories coming from our border break my heart. He went on to call the policy immoral and just plain wrong. Lyft cofounders said they are offering free rides to organizations helping families separated at the border. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, urged people to donate to groups working to provide help to families at the border. But the list keeps going, dozens of tech leaders have spoken out. Including the heads of Twitter, eBay, Airbnb, YouTube and Reddit. It's not the first time tech CEOs have spoken out against Trump. There have also been statements made against the travel bans, the transgender military service ban, the end to DACA and the rollback of net neutrality.
