Snap introduces new spectacles. Remember the original spectacles that came out in late 2016? There was a big deal around them, and the only way to get them at first, was at a Snap vending machine. Sales weren't the best, and the company took a $40 million loss on unsold units. They still shoot circular video, which means you'll always see full-screen video when you watch your clips on your phone. Videos record in HD, and Snap says you'll be able to transfer video to Snapchat up to four times faster than before. Before. The new spectacles have some new tricks. First up, they can take photos by holding down the physical button. They also have dual microphones for better audio. Snap says the new spectacles are lighter and more comfortable than before. I havent tried the new ones so I'll reserve judgement on that. The new spectacles are water resistant. Snap says they all work in the rain, snow and in shallow water. However, in their promo video, snap has the following disclaimer. Avoid extended submerging activities with risk of impact or rapid submersion. Snap also note that the new charging case and charging cables are not water resistant, so keep them dry. There are some cosmetic changes as well. Say goodbye to the yellow rings on the front of the glasses, and odd colors Spectacles comes in black, red and blue and the rings on either side now match the frame color. They start at $150. I say they start at that price because you can get prescription lenses through lesabl in the new Spectacles if you want. Are you going to grab some Spectacles for the summer? Let us know.
