Speaker 1: The Samsung galaxy watch four aims to be the one true Android watch for every Android user. How well let's break it down on iOS. There's one. Go-to watch that's the apple watch, but when it comes to Android, that hasn't really been the case. Samsung's watch archs have been bleeding edge, but haven't been as hooked in to Android. Then you have Google wear OS, which has had all of its random features, but not quite connected there. [00:00:30] And you have things like Fitbit. The galaxy watch for is the first watch with a whole new OS that was co-developed with Samsung and Google. This Google wear OS three and a one watch UI interface are supposed to connect faster, more seamlessly, not just to Samsung phones, but to all Android phones. And it's the sort of stuff that, you know, say you're using an apple watch or you're hooking in really quickly to all your settings. Speaker 1: And you're pairing over all of your apps. It's that type of seamless remote feature [00:01:00] that this watch meant to be doing too much better than previous Samsung or Google S watches. We'll see how that works. The other thing that it's pushing the envelope on is health tech. Now, Samsung has been a big player in health sensors and tech over the past number of years, this has blood oxygen. This has ECG for checking a, a regular heart rate rhythms. And it also has features like sleep tracking. There are new things though on this watch, sleep [00:01:30] tracking has snore awareness, which actually makes use of the microphone on your phone to detect snores. And the other big feature is this new sensor. That's part of a recombined version of all of, of the heart rate ECG and other sensors. It's bio impedance. This is a body analysis sensor. Speaker 1: That's supposed to measure everything from BMI to muscle mass. And it sounds like this kind of comprehensive body analysis. That's a big, weird, [00:02:00] interesting tall order. How does that work? How will at work? We're gonna find out as supposedly on day one, it's going to start providing those readings and give a relative sense of where you are in health. Now, bio impedance has been around in other wearable tech in the past. We haven't seen it surface recently on watches that I've seen. So it's interesting to see this pop up. It's also a type of new sensor tech that we've been starting to see lately in other watches, Fitbit since last year had a different type of [00:02:30] electrical stress sensor, EA electrodermal skin response. The other thing about this watch is that it is smaller and meant to be better performing than previous galaxy watches. It's thinner. Speaker 1: It also promises better performance. According to Samsung battery life is supposed to be better too. The battery life is still rated for around 40 hours of continuous use. So it's kind of a couple of days. Um, it doesn't sound like a massive leap in battery life, but we'll have to see how [00:03:00] that feels when we try it, certainly for sleep tracking. That's going to be pretty important. The other thing about this watch is that it comes into varieties. There's the galaxy watch for, and there's the galaxy watch for classic. Now the watch four, which costs less $250 is a sleeker look kind of looks like original galaxy watch active with that, um, touch around the edge and a look that is kind of futuristic to my eye, but very clean galaxy watch for classic is the one that has the rotating [00:03:30] physical BELE. It also has more of traditional watch. Speaker 1: Look, watch straps. That's 350. Now, if you want LTE, which is available as an option on these that's $50 more and it comes in two different sizes, much like many smart watches do. The interesting thing I saw here is that it's not iOS right now. You know, Samsung watches and wears watches had hooked into apples iPhones to some degree to sync and do things like that. That's not in the cards at the moment. [00:04:00] This is meant to be for Android phones to really maximize connecting to Android phones. And it sounds again extremely promising because the whole new OS means that it is going to be much more Android hooked in because it is where west based. That sounds really exciting, but where will Samsung watch owners land with all of this? It's a new OS, which means that previous Samsung galaxy watch and watch active owners, aren't going to be able to upgrade [00:04:30] to this OS. Speaker 1: And it means that Samsung's apps are going to selectively come over to this platform. Not necessarily all of them, although a lot of the watch face looks look pretty consistent and similar. So it's a kind of a fresh start for Samsung software wise and for Google, will this mean that this is the one? Or would you wanna wait to see what other watch manufacturers are doing? Well, it turns out that other watch manufacturers are not getting where OS three until 2022, which is sometime off in [00:05:00] the meantime, this does look like it's lined up to be one of the best Android watches right now. Of course I'll be looking at it and giving my thoughts about it. So stay tuned for all of that, but you can take a look at these pictures of it.
