HP recalls over 100,000 Notebook batteries. Batteries are super important. Without them, we'd always be tethered to a wall or maybe invest in super long extension cords. However, batteries can cause trouble. Just ask HP. Lithium-ion batteries used in certain HP Notebook computers are being recalled. The problem is they can overheat, which can lead to fires or burns. This is an expansion of a recall from last year. In June 2016, HP recalled 41,000 batteries in the U.S. Those batteries were found in HP and Compaq computers. How do you know if your HP is affected by this recall? The batteries use Panasonic cells are were found in HP, Compaq, HP Probook, HP Envy, Compaq Presario and HP Pavilion notebooks. These computers were sold between March 2013 and October 2016. In the notice at U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, you can also see what you should be looking for in the bar codes. If you have one of these batteries, remove them from your notebook. HP will provide a free replacement battery.
