Not every auto show concept is a car. Acura took the non traditional route with its precision cockpit concept. It's meant to showcase the future of Acura's interiors. And from this angle the future is looking pretty, pretty, pretty good. The dashboard draws some inspiration NSX as evidenced by the steering wheel and the massive mode dial sitting front and center. Directly behind that steering wheel is a 12.3 inch screen that's capable of displaying multiple pieces of information at once. It's also loaded with artificial intelligence that can notify the driver about obstacles in the road, and even come up with a predicted path for those obstacles. If it's something like a bicyclist or an off leash dog. Those are kinda the same thing, aren't they? The screen atop the dashboard gives us a sneak peak at Acura's next generation infotainment system which should take a couple years to actually make it to production. The touchpad at the bottom of the center console uses something called absolute positioning, where each spot on the pad corresponds to a part of the screen above. It's meant to mimic a regular touchscreen without having to drag the screen all the way to within the driver's reach. I spent a little bit of time getting familiar with Accura's Cockpit concept, and I found it easy to use, intuitive And it keeps you distraction free. What more do you need from an infotainment system? [BLANK_AUDIO]
