[MUSIC] Whatever your thoughts on Valentine's Day, seeing lovey dovey updates in your news feed can be kind of sucky. I'm Lexy Savvides, your no k cupid for CNet taking you through ways on how to block Valentines Day updates for Facebook and Twitter. First up, Facebook. You'll need to install a browser extension to block certain keywords that friends and brands might use. Download Social Fixer for Facebook, which works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Once it's installed, Facebook will look a little bit different and have a wrench icon in the top toolbar. Click it, and choose edit. Social Fixer option. From this window, find the filtering option, and enter the keywords you want to block. Now this extension uses regular expressions, but don't be freaked out by the slashes and [UNKNOWN]. It's actually really simple to use. In the matching tab box, start off your filter with a forward slash, then a key word. After every key word, enter a pipe symbol or a vertical bar. Keep entering key words that you wanna filter, like Valentine's, Valentine's Day, V Day, February 14 and so on. End the expression with another forward slash. And the letter I to filter upper and lowercase words, then in the action column hide the matches. Press save and reload your feed. Volia, all references to Valentine's Day will now be gone. On Twitter there are a couple of different ways to block keywords and hashtags, I'm going to focus on tweetdeck, find the cog and click settings. In the mute tab, select text content. You can either filter by specific hashtags like hashtag V-day or just plain old key words. Click done and your twitter is blissfully free of sappiness.
