Got a minute? These apps can help you get ready in the event of a natural disaster. The Red Cross has several apps for earthquake, hurricane and tornado situations. They all give a list of alerts and have checklists to help prepare before and during an emergency. The FEMA app from the Department of Homeland Security gives alerts from the national weather service And safety tips for use in a disaster. It also has shelter locations and the ability to upload photos to help first responders. Facebook rolls out a safety check during major crises around the world. If you're near the disaster location you can mark that you're safe and check in on friends and family. Life360 is designed for families to keep in touch and track locations from one central app. Rather than sending text messages back and forth, you can set up automatic alerts to let family know when you get to certain locations.
