Four new Earth like planets have been discovered orbiting our nearest Sun like star Tau Ceti. Tau Ceti is only a mere 12 light years away and is visible with a naked eye. The four new exoplanets have masses as low as 1.7 Earth mass making them among the smallest planets ever detected around nearby Sun like Stars according to an article published by the University of Santa Cruz, California. Two of the [UNKNOWN] planets within the Tau studies' orbital zone, meaning that they could support surface water, and may have alien oceans. The XO planets were discovered using astronomical data from the Harps spectrograph. AKA the Exoplanet Hunter, which is part of the European Southern Observatory in Chile and the WM Keck Observatory in Mauna Kea, Hawaii. [MUSIC] The last few years, scientists and astronomers have been making lots of new exoplanet discoveries by perfecting a technique for measuring the Doppler shifts In the wobbling of the star caused by the gravitational pull of near by orbiting planets. Scientists are now able to detect variations in the movement of the star, as small as 30 centimetres per second, and then they're hoping to soon reach 10 centimeter per second measurement milestone, which is the limit required for detecting earth analog.
