AT&T will come out with yet another streaming service
[MUSIC]
While Google was holding its event, Vanity Fair had its own conference.
The biggest news came out yesterday with AT&T teasing out a new service.
Jo, what are the details?
Well, it's going to be based
Centered on HBO.
So AT&T over the summer bought Time Warner which is the company that owns HBO, Turner which is like CNN, Cartoon Network, networks like that, and Warner Bros pictures.
So the idea is that they would have this streaming service Would cost more than subscribing to HBO by itself so it's gonna be more than fifteen dollars a month.
Yay>> But in addition to HBO you'd also get not quite defined content from those other networks.
You wouldn't-
OK>> get CNN, like you wouldn't get live news, but you might get documentaries from CNN or you might get
I mean, Warner Bros.
has a lot of hits right now.
It put out Crazy Rich Asians, it put out The Nun.
And their catalog or Harry Potter.
The catalog could be there too.
But it goes up against Netflix and a bunch of other, like, everybody's watching a streaming service next year, so.
Yeah, and keep in mind they relaunched two new unlimited plans,
But when they did that, they basically eliminated the super sweet deal of bundling HBO for free to anyone who signed up for wireless service, so I guess they're trying to make HBO, they're trying to bring it back as a bundle.
And AT&T already launched another streaming service as soon as they launched Time Warner.
Yes, Watch, right.
Yeah, Watch TV.
It's like a super skinny bundle for
$14 a month.
Something like that.
So they're definitely trying to get a lot of yardage out of this takeover.
We'll see how it pans out.
