[MUSIC] When it comes to high horsepower that's affordable, It is really tough to beat Dodge, whether it's in sedan or coupe form those supercharged hellcat engines that really scratch your muscle cartridge, and I've come out here to Sonoma Raceway to find out how this guy here the 2020 Dodge Charger [UNKNOWN] SRT wide body does on the track. So suit on up, we're gonna have a good day. [MUSIC] [SOUND] [SOUND] [MUSIC] So when Dodge first started putting their 6.2 litre supercharged hemi V8 engines in their vehicles and the muscle car world went wild right there were like 707 horsepower and in street legal and it's hell a cheap like, my god, the only problem was all that power had Had a tendency to overwhelm the tires it just couldn't hook up you could not get all the power down to the ground. So God came up with the challenger wide body and now thank God, they've got us here in the charger wide body for 2020 and I couldn't be happier. It gets rid of those 275 40 tires and puts in its place. Perrelli P 030 535 and those are wrapped around these killer 20 inch wheels and I really, really love now, how do they make room for those wider tires? Well as an integrated fender flares, it makes it about three and a half inches wider overall. Plus in the front Yeah, you know the grill is a little bit bigger. Different. And allows for more cooling when you drive around the track. You want as much air as possible. And you've got more air so you've got better downforce in the back and less lift in the front, which is always a good thing. Now, that would all be enough, right? I mean, that's a lot of improvements. But Dodge, of course, is the company of excess, right? They've- Given us different springs, bigger front and rear sway bars and a return suspension to handle all of that. So, I am just about done with my warm up lap here at Sonoma Raceway. So let's get through it. Then we'll put the pedal to the metal and see how those facts translate to real world running. [SOUND] [BLANK_AUDIO] So the first thing I know is I start speeding up a little bit is of course all of these massive amounts of power. Going up hill here into turn one, I mean I actually have to break going up hill so I can set myself up for this turn. And it's super off camera, it can be a little scary. Virtually I got Some visual points so I can make sure that I'm on the right spot on the track. I love this one right here because I get all of this mechanical grip added to those super sticky tires. And so far I haven't really felt the rear wanted to come out behind me. But then again, it's tough to use all 707 horsepower on this car right? Now this is the first year that we've got electric power steering instead of the old hydraulic setup. I miss a little bit of the field, but it means that you can add in Either track weight or sport or just custom and I really like it here on the track Wait, it's pretty heavy, which I like. But I do miss just a tiny little bit of that feedback. I wanna know exactly what's happening with those tires underneath so I can know how much gas I can get in so I'm gonna unwind here, get up here to this little bit of a strange That's 90,97,1,2,106 I'm okay, we're gonna get heavy on the brakes here. Not a lot of a little squealing right there. Heavy on those brakes. What I really like is I don't have a lot of brake fade, at least not so far which is awesome and this thing is really special. Sticking it in the corners, I don't feel like it's gonna get away from me at all. Which in the older car, I mean, you really kinda felt like maybe it was gonna try to kill you this handles so much better. Now I only had a few sessions on the track and I really want some more cuz it's tough to give you guys the whole experience, but man, it's just so much better heartbreak quick turn in. I know I gotta give up speed on this corner. So I can get speed on the exit of this quarter. Come on. There you go. There you go. You're going to unwind in here and we get another little straightaway here. Aim for that Monster Energy sign on wind power on, power on, power on straight and break. Baby, that's what I like. quick turn. I don't understand. I don't understand. I don't understand. [LAUGH] What I really like is going through the chicane here. I can hit it at about 55, 56 miles an hour and you can really see how this car handles in terms of bodybuilders just not a lot there and it's really composed in these corners. Man, this is so much fun. Can you believe I get paid for this? Barely. This is amazing. Well, I do have to say though I think that I might like the [UNKNOWN] better only because it's got usable power, right? It's a 6.4 liter naturally aspirated engine, less power, 485 horse power, but still even on a track like this I haven't come close to utilizing all 707 horse power So you know, depending on what you want to do with the vehicle and your driving level, you might want to also look at this gap pack. don't discount it. I mean, this card starts in right around $70,000 the Scat Pack with the white body about 46 It's a great deal. But having said that, man, I gotta get another session in this Hellcat. This is awesome. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [SOUND] But the best thing about the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT LKLY body is the price. I mean we're also you're gonna find a family satanic and all your kids can eat on the daily and run 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds Run the quarter mile in less than 11 seconds and have a top speed of 196 miles an hour all for 69,645 bucks not gonna happen my friends you can put in your order for the 2020 charger wide body at the end of this year and they will take dealerships in the beginning of 2020 [MUSIC]
