>> I love getting text messages, but are you worried about the high cost of text messages especially in the new iPhone plan? Don't be. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com with a Quick Tips on sending free text messages using the AIM application. Now you have to have firmware version 2.0 on your iPhone, which means you either have an iPhone 3G or you upgraded your old iPhone through iTunes. Download and install the AIM application from the App store. I'll assume you can sign-in yourself. Once you do that, press IMs, press the Note key, add a phone number with a plus sign before the full 10-digit number, then type your message and send it. One thing to note, the number you type in will be added to your buddy list, but at least it won't count against your 200 messages or whatever plan you bought. That's it for this Quick Tip, I'm Tom Merritt CNET.com.
