CNET First Look
Samsung S2Although we dinged its predecessor because of its inflated price tag, the Samsung S2 Portable hard drive earns high marks and our recommendation for being reasonably priced, having fast file-transfer speed, and for having a generous three-year warranty.
[ Music ] ^M00:00:03 >> Hey I'm Justin Yu associate editor for CNET.com with a first look at the Samsung S2 external hard drive. This is the next evolution of Samsung's S series devices. The first being the S1 mini we reviewed last year. Now this time around the S2 is slightly larger due to the 2 1/2 inch hard drive inside which allows for capacities up to 640 gigabytes. It's also available in a variety of colors. This one happens to be finished in a blue pattern. Like most externals this one is plug and play only as well as USB powered, so you only needed a USB 2.0 cable included in the box. There's also a soft blue light on top here that signals when the drive is transferring data. The S2 portable is an excellent deal across the board, and we calculated the 500 gigabyte model to cost a very affordable 20 cents per gigabyte. The S2 also earns our recommendation for quick transfer speeds and a generous 3 year warranty. You can read all the details in our full review on CNET.com but that's gonna do it for me. I'm Justin Yu. This is the Samsung S2 external hard drive, and that sounds good to me.
