I'm David Katzmaier, here at CES 2019 at Samsung's event.
Behind me is a 75-inch version of a micro LED TV.
Micro LED is the first new display technology in over a decade, not quite to market yet, but Samsung hopes to bring it there really soon.
We don't know any pricing or availability on this TV, but its potential is really cool.
In terms of picture quality, it has perfect black levels, a brighter picture than any OLA TV, and the ability to have 4K resolution for the first time at this size.
So this TV matches the resolution.
4K TVs but the micro LED technology allows it to get those excellent picture quality characteristics.
Another benefit of micro LED is that it can be modular.
So there is a 219 inch version of this TV called the wall Which is absolutely gigantic.
They can also shrink it down into different sizes and shapes using these tiny modules that this LED is composed up.
So, again, you have this display technology that can be a standard TV screen size or different shapes and sizes.
So the potential here is really cool.
You can have different shaped TVs of various sizes The issue of course, is getting this really crazy micro LED display technology down to an affordable level.
There really isn't any real time to market on this display technology.
You never know how long it's gonna take to get these displays to be as affordable as they can be.
But it's really cool because you get the excellent picture quality, perfect black levels, really nice color, and all the advantages that you get from an OLED display without the disadvantage.
Images.
This displays brighter than OLED and it doesn't have the ability to burn in like some OLED displays can do if you leave on static images for too long of a time.
This is Samsung's micro LED TV.
It's 75 inches.
For the first time at CES 2019, David [UNKNOWN] with CNet.
