This is our 5G reference design.
When we had our 4G, 5G summit in Hong Kong, we talk about have our mobile test platform supporting all the pilots in the drive tests and we announced at that time a Qualcomm reference design, which is a smartphone form factor carrying Full capability of 5G, including millimeter wave.
In this smartphone right now, it's working with the new Snap Dragon that we will announce it today in the live 5G network of our partners AT&T and Verizon in the show.
It took a lot of work To get to the 5G icon, you can see on the very top.
That is the real 5G icon, and that is how we are going to get users to start to identify that they are on a 5G network.
We are very happy, there is a lot of work to get to this point.
But it gave us confidence.
They were really months away from commercializing this technology.
Introducing Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform.
[APPLAUSE]
So that's why along with the 855 platform We're announcing the world's first ultrasonic fingerprint sensing solution for mobile that's designed to go under the display.
It's called Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor and you'll see this in handset products in the first half of 2019.
The 3D sonic sensor is truly the most secure solution on the mobile market today because the sensor can actually capture a full 3D image of your fingerprint's ridges and pores that's unique to you.
Instead of just a simple 2D image done by the optical solution today they can so easily be fooled and spoofed.
Further more, if you're finger is wet or it's oily or it has any other contaminants on there, the 3D Sonic Sensor will read right through that and accurately and quickly read your finger print.
This is the future of fingerprint technology.
