>> Hi. I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor at CNET Reviews, and this is the Nikon Coolpix S570. It's a simple, stylish 12-megapixel camera. Its best feature is its lens, an F27 28-millimeter wide-angle with a 5X zoom. The S570 is available in pink, black, blue, and red with a metal outer shell that gives it a higher-end feel and sturdiness. It's also fairly slim and lightweight. In back is a 2.7-inch LCD and navigation controls that should be easy to master for anyone that's used a digital camera before. Shooting modes on the S570 are aimed squarely at snap shooters, especially the smart portrait system that gets its own spot in the shooting mode menu. It combines Nikon's blink warning, smile shutter, in-camera red eye fix, D lighting, and face priority AF features into one mode, and also adds a new skin-softening component. Photo quality, in general, is very good, and better than I expected from a sub $200.00 Coolpix camera. The only place it stumbles are at ISO 1600 and 3200, which is pretty common for its class. Performance is a little sluggish, though, making the camera better suited for portraits, landscapes, and other things that aren't moving. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's a look at the Nikon Coolpix S570.
