A massive cyber attack is spreading across the world.
It is known as the Petya virus, and it has impacted numerous businesses in Europe including banks, energy companies, telecom operators, retailers, even government Agencies.
Maersk, the largest shipping container line reported on Twitter that it's computer systems are down.
Russia's top oil producer, Rosneft, it's computer systems also were hit.
But it said on Twitter that it didn't stopped oil production.
The virus also took down government agencies, electricity suppliers and banks in Ukraine.
The countries Twitter account seems to be taking it well This Petya virus is particularly nasty ransomware.
Instead of encrypting and locking files in the system, it just restarts the computer and and locks up the whole system, leaving the computer unable to boot up.
It demands the owner pay $300 worth of BitCoin to recover the computer.
This comes on the heels of the WannaCry ransomware.
Last month, that virus crippled more than 200,000 computers in 150 countries.
WannaCry infected old, outdated Windows software that didn't have the latest security patches.
It seems that Petya is also taking advantage of a similar flaw.
It seems that if you install all updates, you should be safe from the attack.
As of this report, security experts have not found a way to fix the ransom ware and it is unclear who is behind the attack.
