Hey everyone, I'm [UNKNOWN].
Samsung has just launched five new phones but we've got even more big phone news coming up.
MWC which is the largest phone trail on the planet kicks off in Barcelona next week and we're both going to be there.
So we are gonna be telling you about what we expect.
So first of all what's gonna be there?
Yeah I mean I think one of th bigget things we're gonn see is 5G it's finally here network operators are turning on their 5G networks and we are gonna be hearing about a lot of phones.
We already saw 5G phone from Samsung but are really just expecting everyone to be talking about this at the show.
A those things a controversy of what a 5G network Really means.
Yeah.>> But we're definitely do expect here carriers to make announcements that they're going to be launching their networks as well.
I mean we're kind of expecting like Verizon we still have don't know exactly when their network is turning on.
They've done some fixed wireless but they haven't done kind of the mobile network 18 t turn those on already.
This would be a big place for them to start talking about these.
Then another big trend that I think we're really gonna see is foldable.
You know with Samsung what we really saw was a phone that could expand into a tablet and it's really interesting to see how other phones are approaching this and the different designs they're going to go about doing with foldables.
Absolutely, I think the one that excited me most was in December we saw a sneak peak at what Xiaomi is working on.
Where the phone just bend in the center like a book.
You can kind of take the two ends and bend it underneath to make is more phone shaped.
So I think there's gonna be a lot of competition in this space and foldable and 5G are definitely going to be the big trends, but there are going to be some smaller treads, as well.
For example, multiple cameras on the back of the device.
So we already know that Samsung's phones will have between two and four cameras on the back, and up to two cameras on the front.
Yeah, and this is a trend that we're gonna really see starting to pick up.
Where is it gonna end?
Five, six, seven-
Cameras on the back, right?
That's been a joke of ours around the office.
But I don't think it's a joke anymore.
I think this is about to become more of a reality.
And it will be interesting to see how much of a gimmick this is or if it really changes the way that people are able to use the camera, and take those shots that are much closer to like DLSR or even like Hollywood video quality.
One day, not now.
We all kinda excited about foldable cuz it's so different but the fact is most of us are still going to be buying phones that are just rectangular slabs of glass like.
We're gonna be buying the Galaxy S 10, we're not gonna be buying the new foldable.
All of us just want better things in these phones, and camera is really a huge one.
Everybody is taking photos all the time, and I think that cameras are a hugely important thing when people are trying Trying to figure out which device to buy.
That's absolutely right.
Screen, battery, camera, those are the top three drivers.
Okay, so main takeaway is we're gonna see a lot of 5G.
We're probably gonna see a lot of foldable.
We're gonna see a lot of cameras, but not all these are gonna be on your phone for 2019.
This is really a taste of the future, so stick with us at CNET for all of your MWC 2019 coverage.
