[ Background music ] >> Kent German: Hi I'm Kent German Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today I'm gonna show you the latest update to the Google Nexus One. So what that is of course is the ability to pinch and zoom like you can on the iPhone and in the Droid Arus. We'll start in the browser. We'll just go to let's say CNN right here. You can zoom in just by spreading your fingers apart. Very much like the iPhone as I said. You can actually zoom out by pinching them close together so again double tap as well. Before we did have those magnifying glasses down below you actually had to press these icons, it would zoom in a little bit, not the best feature I think I really like this multi touch a lot better. So I think it works quite well, again very smooth. Of course it will depend on your 3G connection. One thing to this the update also added was better 3G connectivity. We know that a lot of users had with the Nexus One had problems with the 3G connection when they first got it. We actually didn't see those problems on our review Nexus One. I used it for quite awhile, a few weeks actually, didn't see any big problems. I was able to get pretty fast connection most places but if you were one of those people that had problems hopefully this update will fix your problems. Also we can show you the maps pretty much the same thing so we'll zoom into San Francisco and you can zoom again just by spreading those fingers apart, so it works exactly the same way. Multi touch doesn't work throughout the whole phone but I think in these 2 features which are the most important it's great to have it. Another change that came with the software update is the addition of Google goggles. What that is an app that appears right on the main menu. Press that, you can take a photo with the phones camera and then it'll analyze that photo and then will call up relevant web pages related to it. Actually I can try and couple of things here just have a National Geographic so I'll just take a photo of that and then it analyzes the photo, you can see sort of this little bar moves across, it's very fancy. You can see that it brings up a lot of pages in Japanese but they are National Geographic pages. It does work pretty well. Another thing I tried it with was post card. We have Australian flag, take a photo of that. Brings up a lot of things about the British flag in London so a little off, not so much of course that it does have the British flag there in the corner but it didn't bring up totally relevant stuff but it does work pretty well I think. I did take some photos outside. It didn't recognize any landmarks right around the scene at building but I'm sure if you took the Golden Gate Bridge or something like that it'd probably work pretty well so Google Goggle is another great feature that added with the software update. [ Background music ] >> Certainly with the addition of multi touch it does remove one of the big flaws of the Nexus One that we had when we first saw it. Now it's on the way to become an even better phone. I'm Kent German and this is the Google Nexus One. ^M00:02:30 [ Music ]
