Last year, the only gift on any gamer's mind was the new Xbox One or Playstation 4. This year, it's time for the games.
I'm Donald Bell, and in this top five, I'm counting down the hottest, newest console games coming out just in time for the holidays.
And to observe some sense of order, Senior Editor Jeff Backlar helped me rank them by the amount of hype they're getting.
Starting things off at number five, Assassin's Creed Unity.
This is the seventh major Assassin's Creed, and it's coming out on X-box One and Playstation Four in November.
This time it's set during the French Revolution slicing and dicing your way to the city of lights.
And for the first time, assassin's creed gets a cooperative multi-player mode.
You also get a rebuilt combat system appropriately geared towards awesome fencing moves.
Which means I'll spend most of my time saying my name is Anigo Montoya.
You killed my father.
Prepare to die.
At number four, Grand Theft Auto Five one of the best games of 2013 gets enhanced treatment for this year for the Xbox One and PS4.
If you haven't played it already, you're missing out on of the most celebrated, violent, cinematic, flagrantly misogynistic, cultural artifacts of our time.
And, this time around, the game takes advantage of the increased power of the XBox One and PS4 with even finer graphic details, increased draw distance, and denser traffic, to give it a more authentic LA feel.
Coming in at number three, Dragon Age: Inquisition.
If GTA feels a little too close to home, Dragon Age is perfect for anyone looking for pure fantasy.
If you're the type of person who can speak in both Elvish and Dothraki,.
You'll feel right at home in this expansive, weekend-devouring role-playing game.
In at number two, Far Cry 4. Another November release due out on Xbox and PlayStation.
You're placed in the wilds of the Himalayas, caught in the middle of a civil war.
It's a stunning immersive game filled with crazy weapons and vehicles and wild animals and the.
You'll fight from the back of an elephant and use a wing suit to freefall through the mountains.
And because it's an open world, you can just soak it all up at your own pace.
Is good for wandering old guys like me.
Which brings us to our number one pick for the most anticipated game for the 2014 holiday season,.
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare out in November for both Xbox and PlayStation, this is the 11th major installment for the Call of Duty franchise and it's more than a game it's an institution of unchecked testosterone and all too realistic violence and this time around you get to hang out with Kevin Spacey, it's like Call of Duty meets House of Cards.
So there you go.
