Hello, everyone! Im Molly Wood and welcome to the CNET Mailbag, the show where I
get air mail! I love air mail! Thank you to those who sent me postcards recently, like this
one from Taiwan, this one from Portugal, and this one from Aberdeen, UK, which
included some Designed for Windows XP stickers. Thank you. Douglas, a happy belated
birthday to your friend Neil, but dude? We dont sing.
Moving on to electronic mail, Chris writes in with a content request. He says:
I was wondering, is there any possibility of a news show that would be
posted every morning that i could download to my iPod and listen to on the
way to school? I've always been a big fan of Loaded, (LOVE
NATALIE!), but its always posted later in the day. I do subscribe to Buzz
Out Loud and I love it, but they're almost 40 minutes! Something short
would be ideal.
Chris! You need to fall in love with the CNET News Daily Podcast. Its about 10
minutes, its daily, like the name says, and its great! Get it at iTunes or
podcast.cnet.com.
Speaking of podcasts, Thomas has a new favorite. He says:
I had to take the time out of my busy college schedule to tell you how much I enjoyed the
recent Real Deal episode on DSLRs, and they had a guest which made some things quite
clear to me.
In case you dont know, the Real Deal is a show Tom Merritt and Rafe Needleman put on
each week where they basically give you the nuts and bolts of a tech topic. Its really
helpful at least to Thomas. Check it out.
Ok, now to more of the CNET fan request line. Anthony says:
I feel that Linux (Ubuntu, since it is the most popular distribution) is largely forgotten on
cnet. PLEASE, and im begging here, include this email in your next mailbag as well as
adding more ubuntu info, tips and tricks, or ANYTHING of the sort to cnet.
Anthony, you got it. This is a personal mission for Tom Merritt, and weve gotten a lot of
requests for this lately, so well keep on it. Speaking of neglected topics, Guillermo says:
i've noticed that you've forgotten the android community a little bit. I
know that is a new operating system and all, but i know that it is
increasing exponentially and it may interest even more people if you talk
about it. I may also tell you that i live in the Dominican Republic and i
might be the only one with the G1(unlocked-Orange) here, since the fad is
iphone everywhere.
A fair point. We havent done too many videos about Android, since there
arent many products available yet, and there are only so many how-to tips
you can do on one phone. But theres a lot of review and blog coverage
here at CNET, and were breathlessly awaiting the next Android phone.
Also, though are you SURE its increasing exponentially since youre
the only one you know who has one? Just asking.
Ok, lets switch to some quick hater mail. Rcavanagh says:
I love the AppleBytes podcast with Brian Tong so I thought I'd try the
Buzz Report podcast that was recommended at the end of the podcast. I
tried it and have one big suggestion. Get a new host. Molly Wood bored me
to tears within 2 minutes. I tried watching 3 other episodes of the
podcast and again came to the conclusion that you need a new host. I
promptly unsubscribed.
Hm. Maybe watch like 3 more? Nah. Im an acquired taste. I can live with that. And to
sdcatchmehere, who wrote and said:
i want live cricket match
I got nothing for ya, buddy.
And thats it for todays show! Keep the feedback coming! Email me at
Mailbag@cnet.com, or send your snail mail to 235 2nd St., San Francisco, CA, 94105.
Thanks for watching, everyone.
