>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, Senior Editor from CNET.com and I'm with Mitsubishi's LT 46144. This is a 46 inch Flat panel LCD TV, one of Mitsubishi's best for 2007. As you can see the set really does have some of the most compact styling we have ever seen on a flat panel TV. The area around the screen is only about an inch thick on the top and sides. Crisp below the screen it's a little bit thicker but even there with the really vanishingly small speakers slit along the bottom still manage to save as much space as possible. Below that is a nice looking oval stand with a little glossy accent around the edge but the TV itself is a nice Matt dark grey color. As a high end HDTV you'd expect this TV does have plenty of features.
One of the nice additions that Mitsubishi gives you is the ability to adjust the color balance on this TV. They call it perfect color. Around back you will find a very good selection of inputs. There's three HDMI inputs back there as well as a pair of component video inputs although this TV doesn't have an analog PC style input. On the side panel there is also another component video input for a total of three so you can quickly connect video game systems and that sort of thing. The picture quality on this Mitsubishi is pretty good, although not in the top tier of LCD's we tested this year. On a plus side it does have very good black level performance, so when you turn on the lights and watch a darker scene does look relatively realistic although not quite as deep a level of black as some of the better LCD's we tested this year. Also on the minus side its color temperature lends a bluer cast to the picture. Unfortunately you can't really adjust that color temperature beyond setting in the low mode which still is relatively blue compared to a lot of the other LCD's on the market. It also has a 120 Hz mode on this set. It's a 120 Hz all the time and supposedly that reduces motion blur although we are really not that sensitive to motion blur we really didn't see it all that much on other LCD's. So unless you are very sensitive to that sort of thing, it's the kind of thing we really don't think this 120 Hz mode on the set is really a game changer. That's a quick look at the Mitsubishi LT 46 144. And I'm David Katzmaier.
