Your Twitter info could be for sale, a person who goes by name Tessa88 claims to have information on 379 million twitter accounts.
Tessa88 told this information to [UNKNOWN] Zach Whittaker over encrypted chat.
The hacker is selling the data for 10 bitcoins, which is nearly 6000$.
Tessa88 is connected to recent leaks at Tumblr, MySpace and LinkedIn.
LeakedSource, a search engine that goes through leaked records, was given a data set provided by a user by the name of Tessa88@exploit.im.
The company analyzed the Twitter database and found it contained approximately 32.9 million records After removing duplicates.
A record includes a username, an e-mail address.
Sometimes two e-mail addresses.
And plain-text passwords.
That would mean those passwords are not encrypted and are visible in plain-text.
Leaked Source believes that Twitter itself was not hacked.
They believe Twitter users were infected with malware and the malware collected the data from web browsers.
Leaked source verified passwords belonging to 15 users.
The site shared part of the database with zd net and two more users were able to verify their password was a part of this collection.
A twitter spokes person says the company is confident that these user names and credentials were not obtained by a twitter data breach.
