The Omron Heart Guide is a watch, but it's a blood pressure watch, and it's a smart watch.
It's undergoing clinical tests right now, and will be submitted to the FDA soon, and the aim is to release it this year.
Omron makes blood pressure cuffs, and this uses the same type of blood pressure tech that's in those cuffs, In a wristband, and so what that means is that aims to give medically accurate wrist measurements, and in addition check your heart rate, your sleep, and get notifications from your phone.
The heart guide takes blood pressure measurements manually with the press of a button, or it can be programmed to take measurements overnight, to see what your readings are while you're sleeping.
Besides tracking steps and other stats, much like a regular fitness tracker, the blood pressure measurements come via oscillometric mesurements, again like blood pressure cuffs use, which are more accurate than a similulated measurement.
It also gets messages, and it syncs with Omron's own app which allows you to send that information to a doctor.
Omron is also making a separate blood pressure device that also gets EKG measurements and can sense for atrial fibrillation.
The goal is to eventually put that tech onto the watch as well, although right now it won't have that.
The target is around 349 or around a premium smart watch, competing with Apple Watch.
It's not technically a full app smart watch, it's a health device.
But it gives you the additional watch features and functions that you might be looking for if you have a FitBit.
ParkGuide also has a reflective, always on display.
