Noise-cancelling headphones are all the rage so it's not surprising that Marshall has a new wireless headphone that features the technology.
It's called the Marshall MID ANC and it retails for $270 or about $80 less than the top noise-cancelling headphones from Bose and Sony.
What's a little unusual about it is that it's an on ear model.
You just don't see too many noise cancelling on your headphones.
It also happens to be the wireless bluetooth version of the martial mid.
From a comfort standpoint, I'm not a huge fan of on ear headphones.
But I didn't find they made ANC uncomfortable.
And I think it's more ergonomically sound than Martial's earlier major two wireless It's build sturdily with metal hinges, and had a nifty, little, joystick-like, universal control button, that allows you to skip tracks forward and back, and adjust the volume.
It also comes with a nice, though somewhat bulky carrying case, and included cord allows you to listen in wired mode.
I thought the headphone had decent clarity and tight, deep bass, particularly for an on-ear model.
Overall, this is a well-balanced-sounding headphone, and should work with a wide variety of music.
The noise canceling isn't quite on par with what you get from Bose or Sony but it did a decent job muffling the noise around me in the streets of New York.
And on the subway, I could certainly tell it was on.
As for battery life, you get up to 20 hours Playing time with the wireless and noise cancelling on and over 30 hours without noise cancelling.
Those are decent numbers.
I'm not sure I'll buy this headphone over the Bose QuiertComfort 35 or Sony WH1000XM2, but it certainly does sound good.
And its more compact size may appeal to certain buyers.
Its well worth checking out, particularly if it gets discounted a bit in the coming months.
