>> You know when you put away money to buy something and then that thing isn't available anymore, so you look to buy something else, that's what Microsoft is doing. According to All Things D, Microsoft has turned its focus on buying Facebook. Now, remember Microsoft already owns 240 million dollars take in Facebook or it is that they want the whole pie and not just a piece. I'm suspicious about this one because it would put a nail in the Yahoo coffin and I'm not convinced anyone's ready to do that just yet. The Sprint and Clearwire deal is official. The two companies will band together with the likes of Intel and Google and build out a WiMax network by 2010. The network will cost $14.5 billion and reach 140 million people by blanketing the entire city with wireless broadband. Analysts told Reuters that they are worried that this is a too many cook situation. Intel obviously has different objectives in rolling out broadband than say, Google or Sprint for that matter. I hope they can play nicely though, because if they don't it will be a big old mess and will never get WiMax. Telecom Italia claims that it's getting the iPhone too. This comes just days after Vodafone said that it would be bringing the iPhone to European countries including Italy. So I guess this means that Italians will have a choice of two carriers for the iPhone. That's not fair.

>> I see Moms liking more and more gadgets everyday and it's very exciting. First of course they like the digital cameras. That's probably the question I get asked most. Which digital camera do you buy and it's hard for me to answer that because there are so many and they keep constantly changing. The one that I'm rocking right now is the Sony Cyber-shot. I like this one, the DCS slash T2, 8.1-megapixel, Carl Zeiss lens. It's pretty thin. I like the cool colors. This right here is the Magellan GPS Device. It's a 4250 and it has the ability to make and receive phone calls through a GPS device, which is nice because recently I got into a car accident and yes I was on my phone. And if I had this on even though the sound quality isn't perfect, I would use it and you just apologize. Sorry, I'm on speaker phone. That's something that Moms really want. They want the hands free and I'm glad because you need both hands on the wheel. I don't mind the camera on the KRZR either and then the video is fine and I like the design, you know like the mirror out like that and -- yeah.
>> Good for looking pretty when you're at your play date.
>> You know, you gotta check it out. Maybe there's some single Daddy around and you're like... Some interesting presents for Mom. I really like the Chumby. When I gave my Mom the Chumby, she looked at it like, oh great, what the hell is this. But then I showed her and like, look, just don't expect anything from it. Just expect it to sit there and give you cool information and she's really liking it. And it's something that she feels like, a use of technology that she wouldn't have thought of, but then if you corporate it into her house, then she feels like it's a step up from the digital picture frame although she has her Picasa pictures rolling in it. And so, it's just kind of a cool gift.

>> You can find Cat's Mommy log at hitechmommy.com. A few months ago, a company called Qtrax announced that it would have free music downloads from several labels. The company had to quickly resent that statement because none of the labels authorized them to offer any music at all. Now, Qtrax finally does have permission to carry at least one big label's tunes, Universal. This is the first major label that the company has scored although it already had an indie label called TVT. If other labels join in, Qtrax would be the first legal peer-to-peer music site. If they don't Qtrax will be a lesson to us all, not to pretend you're working with companies that you aren't. Last night Adobe's new online photo editing site Photoshop Express added support for Flickr. This means that you can download photos directly to the Adobe application from Flickr, edit them using Photoshop and then export them right back to Flickr. This is cool because I don't love Flickr on editing program. The Viacom lawsuit against YouTube is by no means over. Google's vice president of Content Partnerships, told Dow Jones Newswire that Google has no intention of resolving this lawsuit peacefully out of court. He said that they would take it all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. This is the $1 Billion lawsuit that Viacom filed against Google for carrying copyrighted content on YouTube. It seemed viable back then, but now it just seemed silly. Viacom shows are all over the web, why can't they just make a YouTube channel and drop this already. Neil Young is planning to release his entire music collection on Blu-ray disc. Neil Young is a comedienne rocker in the 60's. I'm embarrassed to say I had to Wikipedia him. Anyway, this is an interesting move and indicative that Blu-ray is useful for more than just video. Blu-ray disc hold much more data than CDs or DVDs, so the audio tracks can be much higher quality. They can also be updated over the Internet. Young's discs will also have unreleased songs, videos, hand-written manuscripts and other memorabilia. No word on how much more this will cost, but it is for the purist who are willing to shell out more money for better sound rather than just live with the MP3s. I don't think that this will be a big new trend, just an option for classic anthologies. What do you think? Do you want music on Blu-ray? Write me at loaded@cnet.com. The game series that jumpstarted the debate of violence in video games is going to get a fourth installment. Id Software says they've started production on Doom 4. To support the game the company says they're looking for new developers. Looks like I'll have to polish-up my resume. Reuters reports that Pope Benedict will send text messages to thousands of young Catholics on their mobile phones for World Youth Day. The Pope will send daily messages of hope and inspiration to the 225,000 young Catholics in attendance. The Pope used Sprint while he was in the States, but will not be able to use the carrier internationally. Instead Australian telecom company Telstra will provide the mobile broadband and broadcast services for the event. Besides, God loves all carriers equally. Those were all your headlines for today and that wraps up your week of getting Loaded. If you've missed any episodes this week, you can always catch up by heading over to Loaded.cnettv.com. I'll see you on Monday. I'm Natali Del Conte with CNET TV and you've just been Loaded.
