>> Asus and EA are working to get in on the Android fun. Netflix and TiVo are partnering up -- finally. And we've got a look at some very cool iPhone and iPod touch games coming out later this year. It's Thursday October 30, I'm Natali Del Conte and it's time to get Loaded.^M00:00:14[ Music ]^M00:00:18>> Netflix and TiVo are expected to announce a partnership today. This would mean that you could stream Netflix movies directly to your TiVo which is cool. This is the Netflix Watch Now service, so you could rent a movie and then watch it On Demand. This new company said that they would begin testing the service this week and then make it more widely available in December. It will be free for TiVo subscribers who have unlimited subscriptions to Netflix. You may soon be able to serenade your friends and family with the Rock Band version of "Let It Be." The Beatles music is supposedly coming to the game soon. Remember you still can't buy Beatles music over iTunes. The bands label Apple Corps is pretty tight with the licensing. Viacom's MTV Networks which distributes Rock Band may have said the magic word though. This will be a big win for the game and for you if you want your parents to play Rock Band with you. Windows Live now supports OpenID. This is a single ID login and password system. You'll soon be able to use your Windows Live ID to sign in to any OpenID website and vice versa. I am encouraged by this. I really do want OpenID to succeed, so that we can consolidate our online identities, but OpenID's really only as good as the organizations that uses it. Yahoo does support it in limited capacity. Microsoft is another big win for this cause. Logitech has acquired SightSpeed, a Voiceover IP and chat program. This means when you buy a Logitech webcam it will most likely encourage you to use it with SightSpeed software which is cool. SightSpeed is a program that I like. It's especially good for multiple persons chatting. The deal is expected to close in November and Logitech plunk down a cool 30 million dollars for the company -- not bad. We know Motorola is working on an Android phone. Now we know Asus is working on one too. It's supposed to launch in the first half of 2009 in Taiwan first and then to other countries some time after. Unfortunately, that's all we know for now, but we'll keep an eye out. EA is said to be working on three new games for the Google Android operating system. Tetris, Bejeweled and Monopoly will come out in November for the Android phone. Meanwhile, EA already has five games being sold in Apple's app store and more on their way. We sat down with Apple representatives yesterday and got a preview. Take a look.^M00:02:24[ Music ]^M00:02:30>> So, instead of having all these extra buttons that you have to map to like you see in the DS or the PSP, we're using really innovative ways to get your great game play control. So for example, I'm gonna tap, I'm gonna go in to my exhibition game. We'll just click through on the beginning that you can see beautiful 3Dgraphics as well. Now what you'll notice overlaid on the screen is the controls, so then taken that functionality a lot of users are familiar with, if you don't have physical buttons, but overlay these control but they've done a lot of really intuitive new stuff as well. So let's say, I wanna kick-off, I just tap, some dribbling down the field, double tap to accelerate, gotta be careful 'cause I'll get a red card. Here's an example of a game that's on our store today. It's only 99 cents. so it's called Topple. Basically what you're doing is taking geometric shapes and using multi touch to take the shapes and stack them up, so that they don't fall over and reach your goal. You can use multi touch -- see I'm using two fingers, so I can change. Drag the shape over. See how I can use my accelerometer and try to balance them out, so it will go back the other way. It's a little bit of physics there. Another great title that's coming out from NGMoco later this year is Rolando. So this is a really exiting game because it's got a lot of great elements in using the built-in technology. You can see all these different worlds. Basically your characters are these little Rolando characters. This is the little Rolando world, so you can see where you need to go and ultimately to get home. You can also highlight them together and then have them move through the world. So that's Rolando, so a need for speed is really popular. And again using the built-in controls to navigate your car at accelerometer then easy way to stealth and turn, so say I wanna use a different model and I go to the Porsche, you can go to the Mustang.>> This comes out later this year?>> Yes, later this year.
^M00:04:20>> We were really excited about these games, but unfortunately we don't have a release date just yet. We'll keep an eye out. Do you know what tomorrow is? Yes, it's Halloween, but Maxell is also declaring a National Fall Backup Day. This is the third year in a row that they have done this. It's basically an awareness campaign, but it can't hurt for us all to back up our data. Of course Maxell wants you to choose one of their CD, DVD or tape formats, but who really uses tape seriously. Personally, I recommend an online backup service like Mozy just in case your office burns down or something, but whatever works for you is fine, just back up your data today, tomorrow sometime soon. It's a good thing to do. Google Street View is going global. Just a few weeks ago it launched in France and this week it has launched in Espana. That's Spain for those of you who don't habla espanol. The street level photographic layer on Google Maps is now available in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Valencia. Maybe I will use it and plan a trip there.
