Kindle 2 overload!

>> Hello everyone, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the CNET Mailbag. The show were you tell it like it is, and I make fun of your spelling. Let's get to your emails, shall we? First up, fan boy alerts. James has a problem with a recent First Look. "Can you please tell me why you had the overly hyped Justin Yu on the First Look from the Labs for 03-06-09 on review of the new Mac Mini 799 edition? Is he some kind of Windows fan boy? He said some nice things, and he said some bad things, the Mac Mini at the end, saying that a Windows computer from Gateway, LX 6810, can do a much better job than the Mac Mini. Why didn't CNET have BT Cooley Tom review it? Would have been more positive than Justin review. By the way, Justin should have stated that the Windows computers are more prone to security glitches, and he failed to mention that Macs are more secure." Just FYI James, Justin Yu is, in fact, an official CNET Desktop Computer Reviewer. That's his job. So just in case you were wondering why he might point out he good and the bad about a product and compare it to competing products, that's why. Moving on, Quinn the Skin points out a bit of a coverage bias on our part, saying, "Are you guys paid to advertise the Kindle 2? There has been way too much attention put to such a rip off peirce of tech. I know there hasn't been too much new in tech. Maybe you should do more PC and Gaming news, ray her boring old book reader for old women. So please stop doing advertising for the f-ing Kindel 2." Well, Quinn the Skin, Tom Merritt and I certainly disappointed to discover that we are old women, especially Tom. But I guess it's a fair point. Sometimes here in Nerd Land, we do get overly excited about new gadgets, even if they probably are the future of reading. We'll try to be more balances. And in other terrible crimes that we have perpetrated on you, Leo Lan 55 says, "I just watched 32-second ad for NCAA on Demand. No. Stop it. That was the worst 32 seconds of my life. TTFN." Really dude, that is the worst thing that has ever happened to you in your whole life? You must lead a very charmed life. Okay, moving on to some lover mail.

>> Brian Cooley edition. Andrew in Notting Hill, London writes, "Hi there, CNET.com. A big shout out to Brian Cooley. I've just come across his great video reviews of the auto section, and his awesome clear Nikon D80 tips. What a top bloke. Very clear, very direct, and a credit to your team." Well, Andrew, I passed this on to Brian Cooley, and he said he was very proud to be a top bloke. And now onto some burning questions. Mikhail [assumed spelling] says, "I was watching your Buzz Report entitled "Hot Cars, Hot Cameras" in which you showed us the new Kindle app for the iPhone. I couldn't help but notice the really cool and unique burgundy backing on your iPhone 3G. I've been looking for a solution to protect my iPhone 3G without hiding its coolness, and it looks like you've found it. Can you tell me what type of backing you have on your iPhone?" Mikhail, I wish I could because it is gorgeous. And I got email about this case from a lot of people. I actually got it as a gift from a Buzz Out Loud listener, who told me that he got it in the Philippines, and you can see there is no branding on it at all. Plus, he sent it anonymously, so if you're watching iPhone case guy, tell us where you got this. Or, don't tell us because I kind of like being one of a kind. And finally, Sarah G. needs some advice. "I had my Winston Acer for three years, and then he just, without warning, he just died. I have since gotten a Acer Aspire One. And well, I am looking for a name I for him. I have the blue one. I am a big fan of old English butler names. I would love for you to name my lovely Acer." Well Sarah, we get to thinking. So maybe "Benson." "Smithers." "Jeeves." "Penny Worth." Or, and this is my personal favorite, "Peabody." Let us know what you decide. And that's it for today's show. Keep the feedback coming. Email me at mailbag at CNET.com, or send your snail mail to 235 Second Street, San Francisco, California, 94105. Thank you for watching, everyone.
