>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, Senior Editor from CNET.com and I'm with the JVC LT-47X898. This is a 47 inch LCD flat panel HDTV. 1080p, a 120 Hz model so its JVC's one of JVC's highest end models. We do like the styling of this set. It's a very simple very compact looking set around the edge of the screen is really thin glossy black bezel, below that is this kind of angled speaker area and a glossy stand, there is really not much more to it than matt. When you go into the menu system however you will find something we didn't like and that's the design of the menu system. It's really kind of archaic looking text based. And the worst part is that you've to scroll for ever especially with this TV which has a heck of a lot of ways to adjust the picture. We did like that. We liked the fact that you could go ahead and change the color temperature. Although there wasn't really much you could do about the set's primary color accuracy which it turns out was a big issue with this TV. I ran back to find out a good selection of inputs including 3 HDMI, 2 component video and one PC input. In terms of overall picture quality JVC did a pretty good job although definitely not in the range of the better LCD TV's we've seen this year. Our main complaint had to do with its color accuracy specifically the color of blue and green as well as cyan a really, not very accurate, it makes things like skies and the ocean look just really way too greenish. The set does have relatively good black level performance though again not quite as deep as a lot of the LCD's on the market. From off angle there were some issues that does get a little bit redder when seen from the side although the uniformity over all of the screen wasn't too bad. It does have a 120 Hz mode which on the set really doesn't have a deep jutter built in so it doesn't smooth out motion and in terms of motion blur we really couldn't see all that much motion blur on a lot of the other LCD's out there, so this one's ability to clean it up isn't all that much of a big deal as far as we are concerned. Anyway that's a quick look at JVC's LT-47X898 and I'm David Katzmaier.
