Jaguar's I-Pace isn't just a great concept, it's coming to production

Jaguar's update crossover is proving to be a sales hit. But what will the auto maker do when the environmentalists come and tear down the fabric of the auto industry, and demand we all go electric? Well, Jaguar has a plan, it's called the I-PACE. The I-PACE is an all electric crossover concept, underneath the body is a 90 kilowatt hour battery that produces approximately 220 miles of range by EPA estimate. There are two electric motors, one at each axle, that produce in that 400 horse power, and 516 pound feet of torque. That's enough to scoot this kitty to 60 miles an hour in four seconds flat. While the two may share part of a name, they barely look alike. That's because Jaguar moved the whole cab forward to make up for the lack of an internal combustion engine up front. That means in the back there's a much steeper rake on the windshield which is so sporty now it kind of looks like it was sponsored by Gatorade. The interior is a bit more realistic. There's a new Jaguar steering wheel with touch pads on either side that sits right in front of a whole bunch of screens because screens are the future and it's unavoidable so why bother fighting it. Now the center console on the other hand still has physical switch gear and it kind of has good rising motion to it. That reminds me a bit of the Ford Fusion which I'm really sure Jaguar doesn't want to hear. You know what the best part about the I-pace concept is? it's coming to production. The I-pace will hit the roads in early 2018 and while the cynic in me believes it won't look Anything like this is certainly hoping it will, but no matter what, Jaguar will have an electric crossover on the road within the next two years.
