We might have a better idea of what kind of fingerprint sensor to expect in the upcoming Galaxy S8.
Samsung manufacturing partner Synaptics just announced a new optical sensor and if the timing is right, it could make its way to the upcoming Smartphone.
The natural ID FS9100 is made to be invisible to the eye when you're looking at your phone screen.
Since it lives under the device's cover glass.
That would mean more screen real estate for your phone, and no Home button in sight which ties nicely under a rumor we've heard about the S8 getting a nearly full-screen display.
This particular sensor claims to be scratch proof, water proof, and has a security layer that can distinguish between real and fake Fingers because apparently now we live in a world where you can be hacked by fake fingers.
There is one thing that might keep the FS9100 from making it onto Samsung's next phone, and that's production timing.
If Samsung rushes to get the phone out sooner there may not be enough time to put the sensor inside the S8.
Delays usually aren't fun for anyone, but Samsung is likely working hard to avoid any issues with this upcoming flagship.
Especially after it's Note 7 launch ended in a full recall after devices began exploding.
Samsung declined comment when asked about whether or not it would incorporate the synaptic sensor into future devices.
