I'm hanging out with my new robot pal.
This is the iRobot Mirra pool cleaning robot.
Now, iRobot, of course, is best known for making Roomba, the vacuuming robot, but it's turned its attention to the difficult business of cleaning swimming pools.
There are a number of features on this that aim to make it easier to use than existing pool robots.
So, as it's cleaning your pool, this robot is obviously gonna filled with water and become very heavy;
and that's where these rubbery vials comes in 'coz as soon as you lift it out of the water, all of the liquid is gonna gush out of these and that should make it light enough to easily pick up.
So, how does it actually work?
iRobot tells me that Mirra figures out the size of your swimming pool generally by just randomly bumping around into walls and stuff, and that helps it clean a bit more efficiently.
If you take a look at the wheels, you can see they've got this foam coating and coupled with these 2 blowers on the underside.
That means it can stick to walls, so it climbs up the side of your pool and cleans the waterline as well.
When the robot uprising happens, they won't be too happy that you made them clean your pool, but until then, this looks like a handy time-saving gadget.
