Apples opinion aside, the iPhone 4 isnt perfect.
There are lots of tasty features found in other
phones you cant get in an iPhone.
Im B.C, with CNETs Top 5 iPhone 5 features wish list ranked
in order of important, drawn from the full list of 20 features curated by CNET editor David
Carnoy .
#5: A bigger screen.
Folks rave about how good the iPhone 4 screen is, but never about how
BIG it is.
Its 3.5 while many competitors are 4.0 4.3.
It makes a huge difference in a small
device.
iPhone is at real risk for looking cramped, but bigger tends to sacrifice stylish.
So we lay
the odds on a bigger display at 50/50.
#4 Better battery life.
When a phone doesnt have a user replaceable battery like the iPhone
doesnt , it better have great battery life.
Luckily, iPhones tend to march that direction each rev
and the battery industry is busily making big advances, so we give this one at 90% chance.
#3 Better call quality.
iPhone is a strange name for a device that does everything well except
make phone calls.
The addition of Verizon offers carrier choice that helps -- and iPhone 5 will
be the first phone designed from the ground up with Verizon in mind.
Plus there are anecdotal
reports that AT&T is getting better as defectors move to Verizon.
Whatever it takes.
But we give
this fuzzy goal a 45% chance.
#2 iOS 5.
OK, this is a given, 100%: iPhone 5 will have iOS5.
The key is how well iOS5 can stave
off the onslaught of Android, which has the hottest sales growth in the phone biz today and is
projected to be the most popular smartphone in users pockets by end of 2012.
Before we get to the #1 iPhone 5 feature on the CNET wish list, heres a look at the Top 5 that
are just wishful thinking!
These are not going to happen!
Most because of Apples focus on
clean, slim designand one just because they hate Abode:
The #1 thing on our iPhone 5 wish list is something thing a lot of folks mistakenly think iPhone 4
already does: 4G.
4G networks are the single hottest new thing in phones beyond smartphones themselves.
The
iPhone is going to look yesterday real fast if its not on them.
But hold on: 4G is in its early days
now, not on in every market, different on every carrier, hard on battery life and just inelegant.
Apple hates in elegant.
So they may wait until iPhone 6 to do 4G, after everyone else has gotten
a black eye rolling out early.
Odds here: 50/50.
