'Inhumans' director talks shooting Imax and working fast
[SOUND] You should of known this day was coming.
[SOUND]
I heard all these horror stories on working with Marvel, but I didn't feel that way.
For me, it was very collaborative.
These people are very passionate about their product and about characters and about doing the best version of everything.
And I'm the same way.
I'm so passionate about when I'm Filming or when I'm doing these things.
But there was always a Marvel executive around me just to make sure that whatever I did, or whatever we did together it would tie in with other characters, in other universes, in other comics, in other series or movies.
Because they were very protective about how everything works and they would not do things double.
[MUSIC]
Shakey handheld stuff doesn't really work for IMAX.
So, I kind of chose the way to kind of move the cameras more forward and backwards.
We built the sets with more scope on top and higher, bigger ceilings so I can do low angles but also you use the aimed scope that goes higher up.
Also locations that I picked Based on how can I see and how can I reveal the big scope of [UNKNOWN].
So that was really a blast.
I think they really brought me in because they liked the ideas I had for that I would do with the characters.
I think they really also liked me for the job because I was able with my action movies to shoot in a very short of time.
Or with very low budgets scope action that looks like a big budget movie.
[NOISE] We always start looking for fun so I think this also good about the Marvel franchise they don't take themselves seriously and [UNKNOWN] is one fun big beast.
And also with the other characters and even Karnak [UNKNOWN] His abilities to see only the negative side of things.
It's very [UNKNOWN] character.
Because he sees all the negative side of things.
The schedule was super tight.
It was TV right.
And what is nerve wracking.
So we have seven [UNKNOWN] companies working on [UNKNOWN] for this first [UNKNOWN] which is a massive amount Number.
But also I had tv scheduled time to shoot it, with IMAX camera's, which is nerve wracking.
But I come from a low-budget film world, so 20 days for me, is a luxury.
