>> Hey I'm Donald Bell, Senior Editor for Digital Audio with MP3, and today we're taking a First Look at the iLuv Double Play. It's an iPod alarm clock that retails for around $120, and offers two stand-out features: iPhone compatibility and the inclusion of two docks instead of just one. It's a great system for couples with more than one iPod or iPhone and, since it's always next to your bed, there's a better chance you'll actually remember to charge your phone. Other features we like on the Double Play are the large, high-contrast clock display with an adjustable brightness setting and a magnetized remote that attaches to the back of the system There's an FM radio with 8 presets and on the back of the system, you've got a headphone jack and an aux input that can be designated as an alarm source. I really like the design of the Double Play, but the sound quality is pretty weak for something in this price range. You can use the built-in EQ controls to juice things a little bit, but overall it pretty much sounds like an average clock radio. What you're really paying for here are the two docks, which have a switch which you can designate which one will play through the speakers. Both docks can be used with the iPod, but only one of the docks officially supports the iPhone. The worst thing that happens when you plug a non iPhone into the iPhone dock is that you'll get a little nag screen on the iPhone that you can click through. Still, having two official iPhone docks would've been nice. I'm Donald Bell and that was a First Look at the iLuv Double Play.
