Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at cnet.com and I'm here with your first look of the HTC HD7.
This is T-Mobile's first windows phone 7 device, which is available now for $199.99 with a contract.
The phone might actually look a little familiar to some of you and that's because it's a lot like the HTC HD2, which was also on T-Mobile, but running Windows mobile 6.5.
It is on the bigger side and heavier, so it won't impel to everyone,
but it's still pretty thin and has a very solid feel to it with a soft-touch finish outback.
Now, the reason for the phone's bigger size is, of course, the touchscreen.
It measures 4.3 inches diagonally and it's the biggest display available on a Windows phone 7 devices, and it definitely works well for overall navigation and adds to the multimedia and gaming abilities of Windows 0.7.
Plus, you got a built-in kickstand here, so you can place the phone on a flat surface and watch videos, listen to music, and have phone conversions hands-free.
And now, the benefit of the lighter
display is a bigger keyboard.
I thought the keyboard on the Samsung Focus and HTC around were fine, but I definitely found that it could take faster on the HD7.
One thing I did notice, though, is that the HD7 screen isn't quite as sharp or as vibrant as some of today's latest displays.
It's actually the same display as the HD2, which came out on April 2010, so it feels a little outdated compared to the Samsung focuses, super AMOLED display, which really pops.
The HD7 also has the same processor and battery
as the HD2, so it would have been nice if those were upgraded as well.
I won't say those are jailbreakers.
The Smartphones still performs smoothly and comes fully loaded with a number of extras, including T-Mobile TV, Netflix, Soccer Radio, TeleNav, GPS navigator, and T-Mobile new family room app, which lets you share messages and calendars with your family members.
It also has a 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and HD video capture.
So, I'd say if you want the bigger screen, I'd say
definitely go with the HTC HD7, but I think, overall, the better Windows Phone 7 device is the same on focus.
