Hey, guys.
I'm sitting here with the HP 2311 Monitor.
This is HP's budget monitor from last year.
They've got a lot of attention on our site because it was available for as low as 180 bucks at one point.
That's special because you don't get to see too many 23 inch monitors with an LED backlight.
Now you're probably thinking the monitor is probably gint in a few ways at that price.
Mostly in ergonomics.
It doesn't have any height adjustment, no swivel, no pivot but it does have a tilt.
However it's not gint in connection options.
It has a trifecta of connection options but there's no display port.
One thing I really love about the connection options is that they face backwards.
They're in this nice, open, clear, clean spot on the back.
They're easy to access and more monitors should be doing that these days.
As you can probably tell by looking at it, the monitor has a pretty slick look, especially for a monitor of this price.
It's fairly thin too, the back, it has this really nice and smooth matte.
It has this very clean look.
The OSD is really easy to navigate and access right here on the side and I wanna show you a few things about that.
Now I use the movie preset to check out the trailer for Haywire, it looks really awesome.
This scene in particular is a great example of why the movie preset doesn't really work that well.
It has these 2 characters that are dressed in black but you can't really see the details of their clothing, however, if you increase the contrast or switch to a different preset, you can see that...
a little bit of that detail but then the contrast ratio, the vibrancy, the great cinematic look I spoke about, that all disappears.
So I'm gonna continue tweaking around with the settings and try to find a good happy medium.
