The new watch OS 2 update for the Apple watch includes a special nightstand mode.
This lets you use the watch as a bedside clock while it's charging.
To ensure it's enabled launch the watch app on your iPhone, tap general, scroll down and then make sure the switch next to nightstand mode is in the on position.
This can also be done directly on your Apple watch by going to settings Tapping general, followed by night stand mode.
The night stand feature will only be activated when you place your Apple Watch on its side, when it's connected to the charger.
The watch will display the current time, the date, your next scheduled alarm, and battery level.
Eventually the screen will turn off, but shortly before your alarm, nightstand mode will slowly brighten the display until the alarm is scheduled to go off.
You can then use either the digital crown or the side button to quiet or snooze the alarm.
