How to mix and match Amazon Echo's new name and voice options
Speaker 1: Amazon recently expanded its name and voice options for the echo, including a new way, cord Ziggy, and a new masculine sounding voice. Today, I'm gonna walk you through how to mix and match your Amazon Echo's name and voice options.
Speaker 1: Now you can only choose one wake word per echo device, but if you have multiple echos, each one can have its own wake word. So [00:00:30] you could have an Alexa, a Ziggy, an Amazon, an echo all at your disposal to wake up your echo devices. And if you've grown tired of Alexa's voice, Amazon released a masculine, which can, but doesn't have to be paired with a new Ziggy, wakeboard. These two updates shouldn't be taken that they are one and the same rather you're free to mix and match wake words with either of the voices. And yes, there are the celebrity voice options that you can pay for like Samuel L. Jackson, Melissa McCarthy, SHA O'Neil. But those [00:01:00] options don't replace everything that Alexa says only select phrases. However, the new masculine voice options does to change your wake word, which is the name you say to activate your Amazon voice assistant. There's the easy way, which is simply saying, Alexa, change your wake word, and then verbally respond to one of the choices given, okay.
Speaker 2: You can choose from Amazon compute, echo or Ziggy,
Speaker 1: Which of these do you like? And then there's the slightly more difficult way which is through the Alexa app. [00:01:30] Open the Alexa app and tap devices on the bottom menu bar, tap echo and Alexa on the top. Then tap the name of the device. You wanna change the wakeboard four, tap the settings icon and the upper right corner. Then tap, wake word. And the one you'd like to use a popup will advise you that it'll take a few minutes for it to go into effect, then tap. Okay? Just like with the wake word, there's the easy option to change your Echo's voice. Simply say, Alexa, change your voice. And then echo device will confirm it's using the new masculine voice.
Speaker 3: [00:02:00] Okay. You're all set. I'll be the voice you here. When you speak to this device, if you'd like to change how you wake me up, you can also change your white word,
Speaker 1: Or you can change the new voice option in the Alexa app. Again, open the Alexa app and tap devices on the bottom menu bar, tap echo and Alexa on the top, then tap the name of the device. You wanna change the voice for tap the settings icon in the upper right corner, then up Alexa's voice. Now you can choose between original, which is Alexa, voice or new, which is the [00:02:30] masculine sounding voice. And that's it. You still don't have a lot of options with Amazon, but you have more now than ever before. Thanks for watching.
