YouTube for desktop is getting a redesign, it's cleaner, easier to navigate and gives channels a new look but most importantly it comes with a darker theme.
The redesign isn't finished yet but you can opt in and begin using the dark mode now, here's how.
Open a new window or tab in a browser of your choice and go to youtube.com/new.
Click try it now, to opt in to the new design.
This redesign removes the redundant three tabs on the YouTube home page, tightens up the design in general, and uses larger typeface across the board, To activate the new dark theme, click your profile icon in the top right corner.
In the drop down menu that appears, click dark theme.
Then click the toggle beside activate dark theme.
All the light parts of YouTube will becomes varying shades of dark grey.
Your setting will be remembered the next time you visit YouTube from the same browser.
But the dark theme will need to be enabled for each browser or computer you use.
If by chance you aren't fond of the new design on YouTube, you can revert to the original by clicking on your profile icon in the top-right corner once more and clicking Restore classic YouTube at the bottom.
Give a reason for why you want to revert and click Submit.
