When was the last time you cleaned your coffee maker?
Not just wiping it down or hand washing the removable parts, when did you last give it a deep cleaning?
Chances are it's been awhile.
If you're making coffee every single day, you should be performing a deep clean or a descaling every three to six months.
This removes build up of deposits, such as lime or bacteria.
It should only take a few minutes and can improve the performance of your coffee maker, as well as the taste of the coffee it makes.
Start by dumping any water from the cold water reservoir, and removing any [INAUDIBLE] pods that may have been left behind.
Use a dry or slightly damp wash cloth to wipe away any residue.
Such as loose coffee grounds from the exterior and the pod housing before descaling.
Then pour distilled vinegar into the water reservoir, filling it to the max fill line, and place a coffee mug under the dispenser.
Lift the handle, then lower it again without inserting a pod.
Then start the brewing process.
When the brew process is finished dump the vinegar down the drain and repeat until there is no more vinegar left in the reservoir.
If your Keurig has a small reservoir like this one you'll want to run three to five cycles of vinegar through it.
After the last vinegar brew cycle, if there is still vinegar in the reservoir, either add enough water to run one more cycle or dump the remaining solution in the sink.
Fill the reservoir with filtered water and run multiple cycles to wash away any remaining vinegar from the machine.
Your Keurig should now be descaled and ready for use.
