Weeks after the Cambridge Analytica data grab became public, Facebook is finally revealing to users, whether or not they were affected.
Here's how to check.
Facebook is posting this notification at the top of everyone's news feed, regardless of whether or not they were affected, but not everyone is getting it at the same time.
So, if you don't see it at the top of your your feed yet, there's a way to do manually.
Go to Facebook.com/help and type Cambridge Analytica into the search bar.
Now click on the result that says, how can I tell if my information was shared?
If you see this message then breathe a sigh of relief, your data is safe, for now.
If you happen to be one of the roughly 87 million users affected though, you'll see this message instead.
This means you or one of your friends gave access to an app called This Is Your Digital Life, which then shared your data with Cambridge Analytica.
And while you can't get your information back, you can set some boundaries going forward if you plan on keeping your account.
Click on the settings link for a full list of your current apps along with the information you've shared with them.
Now uncheck any information you want to keep private.
